GT Summer Series to launch new era of motorsport in 2026

GEDLICH Racing aims for a clear focus on amateur drivers and true equality through groundbreaking innovation in the brand-new GT Summer Series, kicking off in 2026.

With the launch of the GT Summer Series, Gedlich Racing brings six years of proven experience from its highly successful Winter Series in Southern Europe to Germany for the first time. Operated annually across five championships during the winter months, the concept now evolves into a dedicated summer format designed specifically for amateur and gentleman drivers, their teams, and a modern, engaged audience both trackside and online.

The GT Summer Series places amateurs firmly at the heart of the action, while creating unprecedented proximity between competitors, spectators and social media audiences.

A no-compromise calendar in cooperation with ADAC – ample racing and testing time
The 2026 calendar has been crafted entirely with teams and drivers in mind. Five events across six months create a cost-effective and well-balanced framework, bringing competitors to some of Germany’s most renowned circuits as well as selected international venues. A generous summer break ensures sustainability and planning security.

Gedlich Racing Managing Director Robin Selbach explains: “We are extremely grateful to the ADAC for integrating the GT Summer Series into its Racing Weekend calendar from the very beginning and for recognising the series as a valuable addition to its existing championships.”
Extensive official test sessions ahead of each race weekend allow teams to prepare in optimal conditions. Additional race tests organised by Gedlich Racing will also take place between events.
The GT Summer Series is run by the same young, professional and highly flexible organisation team that has successfully established the Winter Series over recent years.

New: Driver-specific Balance of Performance for genuine equality
The GT Summer Series is explicitly designed for amateur and gentleman drivers. Series organiser Stefan Lehner elaborates: “Six years of Winter Series experience have given us a very clear understanding of what amateur drivers want. With the Summer Series, we are taking this concept even further by introducing entirely new ideas – including a driver-specific Balance of Performance that takes the driver’s status into account.” The objective is clear: amateur drivers will benefit from greater technical freedom, improving their chances of competing for top positions. Professional drivers are permitted to compete, but will be subject to technical restrictions to maintain a level playing field. “What matters most to us is respectful, fair and authentic racing. The amateur driver is our priority. We create racing for successful individuals who are firmly grounded in life and pursue motorsport purely out of passion – just like we do ourselves.”

The all-new “Heroes Arena” – the central stage of the GT Summer Series
Visually and conceptually, the entire race weekend revolves around the drivers, their teams and partners. To support this, Gedlich Racing introduces the “Heroes Arena”.
CEO Markus Gedlich explains: “The Heroes Arena is a large, dedicated area in front of our race office where all public-facing activities come together. From pre-race grids and driver presentations to interviews during our live broadcasts and sponsor activations – the Heroes Arena professionally showcases every hero of the series.”
The area will be active throughout the day and can also be used by teams and drivers for their own initiatives. While track time is naturally limited, the Heroes Arena remains accessible for the entire weekend.

Innovative live streaming and the new Fan Cam bring fans closer than ever
All GT Summer Series events will be broadcast live. The Gedlich Racing livestream goes far beyond conventional race coverage, featuring dedicated English-language commentators to deliver the on-track and paddock action to an international audience and ensure strong global brand exposure. Expanded camera coverage and advanced direction guarantee premium broadcast quality. Brand new for 2026 is the “Fan Cam”.

A dedicated, mobile camera crew will be active in the paddock throughout the day, offering relaxed, behind-the-scenes access to garages, drivers, mechanics and team principals – all from a true fan’s perspective. The content will be distributed primarily via social media, appealing to a broad and younger audience while allowing constant, uncomplicated access. Marketing Manager Mart Hilgenberg adds: “The professional race broadcast and the dynamic Fan Cam complement each other perfectly. Together, they create a level of connection between fans and the heroes of racing that simply did not exist before. It feels as if you are part of the action the entire time.”

Entries open – strong grid expected
The GT Summer Series kicks off from 17–19 April 2026 at the Hockenheimring. Entries are now open. Eligible classes include GT4, GT3, GT2, Cup, Challenge and Supertrofeo.
To provide maximum budget transparency and planning security, Gedlich Racing offers teams a comprehensive budget planner. The organisation remains available at all times to support teams with individual queries.
