GEDLICH Racing’s GT Summer Series will race on Belgian soil for the first time from 28-30 August, at the famed Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The home of the Belgian Grand Prix is the latest historic, legendary venue on the 2026 Summer Series schedule. Spa marks the penultimate event of the inaugural season, and 22 cars are scheduled to take in the three-race itinerary.
Championship battle resumes after the summer break
As the competitors re-convene after the summer break, CCS Racing Team’s Thomas Westarp is the overall championship leader with 150 points on the table. The GT3 AM class challenger has had a stellar season thus far, having only missed one victory all year within the class. Westarp’s closest competition in the overall standings can be found in the Cup 2 class for Porsche 992 Cup machinery. Mike Janser (SA Performance) holds second overall with 128 points, while XR Racing’s Paul Hochberger and Marco Reinbold sit third on 124.
While Westarp scored maximum points in GT3 AM last time out at the Nürburgring, it was the GT3 PRO entry of David Schumacher and Antoine Berberich-Martini that stole the spotlight with three overall victories. The talented pairing will once again be looking to defeat all challengers at Spa, at the wheel of the Haupt Racing Team-prepared Ford Mustang GT3.
New arrivals strengthen the GT3 field
The GT3 PRO-AM class has seen an influx of entries, as a trio of driver line-ups will compete, all utilising Mercedes AMG-GT3 Evos. 2026 GT Winter Series Teams’ Champions SR Motorsport will make a first appearance in the GTSS, entering a single Mercedes for Dominik Schraml and Marcel Oosenbrugh. PTT Racing Team returns to the GT3 PRO-AM class for the first time since the opening round at Hockenheim. An engine failure in qualifying at the German venue means that Przemyslaw Bienkowski and Mateusz Lisowski are yet to race in GTSS, but are expected to be overall victory contenders at Spa.
Meanwhile, the highly-anticipated BWT Mücke Motorsport entry of Thilo Goos and Mattis Pluschkell is finally set to debut. The pairing will be looking to make a strong first impression, as they share a GT3-spec car for the first time.
Thomas Westarp headlines the GT3 AM class in the CCS Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2, while Bertold Gruhn will also be present in his Audi. However, the dominant marque in the class is Porsche, with four cars entered.
Team Joos Sportwagentechnik will appear in the GT Summer Series for the first time. The Vöhringen-based team will enter a Porsche 992 GT3 R for Pablo Briones, and an older 991.2 for Klaus Horn and team boss Michael Joos. Hermann Speck will once again drive DB Motorsport’s 992 GT3 R, while Martin Hansen and Lars Engelbreckt Pedersen once again travel from Denmark with their 991.2 GT3 R.
Strong GT4 field ready for Spa
GT4 AM will host five cars, including two Porsche Caymans from W&S Motorsport. The team’s class points leaders – Gokay Kutlu and Alexander Danzer – will be joined by Luxembourger Tom Kieffer. The two-time ADAC GT4 Germany trophy class champion will be one to watch, despite an extended lay-off from competitive action.
East-Racing Motorsport will also run two Caymans; one for Tristan Gschwendtner, and one for his debuting elder brother Leopold. Bernd Schaible and Tobias Erdmann of Seyffarth Motorsport will be looking for better fortunes in the second part of the season. Their trip to the Nürburgring was punctuated by dramas with the Audi R8 LMS GT4. However, the Seyffarth team has worked hard to get the car back to top form over the break.
The GT4 AM drivers will be joined by a single GT4 PRO entry; an SR Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4, to be driven by 2026 GT Winter Series champion Jay Mo Härtling.
Cup 2 battle continues at Spa
Cup 2 will once again feature battles between current class points leader Mike Janser, his SA Performance teammate Urs Frick, and XR Racing’s Reinbold and Hochberger. As well as the Porsche 992 Cup cars of Cup 2, there will also be two Clubsport-spec Porsche Caymans entered into the Cayman Trophy class. SR Motorsport adds an entry for Dirk Kraus, while East-Racing Motorsport welcomes Helge Tamm to the fold once again.
Ferrari joins the grid in the GTX class
The field at Spa is rounded out by Scuderia Ravetto & Ruberti. The Italian squad will enter a GTX class Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo for Martin Bruhat and Robert Haub, who have raced Prototypes together successfully in the United States. Haub is a familiar name, having previously been a winning force in the GT Winter Series and ADAC GT4 Germany.
All three races live in German and English
The fourth round of the 2026 GT Summer Series will be broadcast live on the 29th and 30th of August. All three races from Spa-Francorchamps will air live on the Summer Series YouTube channel, in both German and English.
