GT Summer Series takes on the Nürburgring for round three of 2026

After exciting races and strong grids at Hockenheim and Oschersleben, the inaugural GEDLICH Racing GT Summer Series will move on to the Nürburgring for the third round of the season.

High temperatures and bright conditions are forecast for the 26-28 June event, as a selection of exciting new entries will add yet more heat to the on-track action.

Westarp leads the chase for championship honours
All parties will be targeting Thomas Westarp, after the CCS Racing Audi driver swept all three overall victories at Oschersleben. Westarp leads the overall standings on 92 points, but is only four points clear of Mike Janser (SA Performance) in his Cup 2 Porsche 992 Cup. XR Racing’s Marco Reinbold and Paul Hochberger – also in Cup 2 – sit third in the standings, on 80 points.

New GT3 entries strengthen the field
In the GT3 ranks, there are numerous new faces looking to fight for overall victories and podiums. Land-Motorsport will make its GT Summer Series debut, along with regular customer Stefan Wieninger. The German racer has plentiful experience competing with GTSS regulars such as Westarp and Hermann Speck, and will be aiming for the top step of the podium in his new-for-2026 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) Evo.

Haupt Racing Team also offers a compelling addition to the field, adding a Ford Mustang GT3 for Antoine Berberich-Martini and Luca Ludwig in the GT3 PRO class. The latter driver has consistently acted as driver coach and co-driver to Berberich-Martini, having previously shared duties in GT Cup Open Europe and the GT Winter Series. 19-year-old Berberich-Martini will be making his GT3 debut in Haupt’s sonorous American V8.

Danish racer Martin Hansen joins his first GT Summer Series event, entering a Porsche 991.2 GT3 R that’s a familiar presence in Danish endurance and GT contests. Gregor Drasal will return in the Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo he raced at Hockenheim, while a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo joins the pack with BWT Mücke Motorsport. Winter Series stalwart Thilo Goos will make his first GT3 outing aboard the newly-purchased Mercedes, sharing driving duties with hotshoe Mattis Pluschkell in the GT3 PRO-AM class.

Full-season entries Hermann Speck (DB Motorsport Porsche) and Bertold Gruhn (Gruhn Stahlbau Racing Audi) complete an extremely strong GT3 line-up. Speck will be aiming for his first win in the newly-purchased Porsche 992 GT3 R, after debuting the car with three second-place finishes at Oschersleben.

Cup and GT4 classes promise close competition
The Cup 2 class for Porsche 992 Cup cars will feature its competitive suite of regulars. Class leader Mike Janser and his teammate Urs Frick will once again represent SA Performance in their pair of 992s. Meanwhile, XR Racing’s Marco Reinbold and Paul Hochberger – and PTT Racing’s Igor Klaja and Fabian Dybionka – will be aiming for more class wins. An additional Porsche 992 Cup enters the Cup X class, in the hands of Amari Kirsch. Since Kirsch competes under a national licence, his car will be restricted to meet the German federation’s regulations.

In GT4, Tobias Erdmann and Bernd Schaible will be fighting a plethora of Porsche Caymans with a pair of Seyffarth Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT4s. Erdmann and Schaible will each compete in both 30-minute sprint races using two cars, before combining in one car for the 50-minute pitstop race. The Seyffarth pair are the GT4 AM championship leaders on 66 points, just six clear of W&S Motorsport’s Alexander Danzer and Gökay Kutlu. W&S will once again field Danzer and Kutlu in their Porsche Cayman GT4 RS CS, while East Racing Motorsport brings two additional examples of the 982-generation Cayman; Tristan Gschwendtner will be accompanied by an additional entry for David Henn and ex-FIA F2 racer Lirim Zendeli.

Nürburgring weekend set to deliver season-best action
The third round of the 2026 GT Summer Series is anticipated to be the most competitive of the season so far. The three GTSS races will be a part of the ADAC Racing Weekend, with weekend tickets available for just €35. As always, every moment of racing action will be streamed live around the world on the Summer Series YouTube channel, featuring commentary in both English and German.
